Time Strategies

Image
I think that the schedule I have received will work great. I work the front desk at my dorm on those days so I have a lot of time to work on my assignments. The time management tips were very helpful in showing me how my work should be spread out so I avoid cramming assignments. This week I was a little behind with trying to navigate all of my other classes, and I am going to try and work ahead as much as I can. The two articles I read were How Checklists Train Your Brain To Be More Productive And Goal-Oriented  and Four Questions to Help You Overcome Procrastination . I love writing check lists and learning the science behind them was so interesting. I always love the feeling of crossing or checking things off, and now I know why I feel that way. Procrastination is a huge flaw of mine and the four questions were really helpful and inspired me to not procrastinate as much. I work two jobs, I am enrolled in 5 classes, and I am involved in my sorority so things can get a little chaotic

Technology

Image
After reading about the different tools I will be using for this class, I have realized that I am familiar with most of technology we will be using for this class. I appreciate how everything is explained in detail on how we are going to use it. I have never used blogger or published a website, but I am excited to learn more about it. This environment is much better in my opinion then any other online class because I can work at my own pace, and I think it is such a creative way to do assignments. The word count for my browser was very well needed for me!  What I imagine my brain will be like this semester. Source

Assignments

The assignment that I am most intrigued by is the story telling assignment. I am excited to start story telling in a unique way! This class is unlike any other class I have had because it is so well organized and explained. It is also so personal and so unique because we will be writing blogs! I am really thankful that we are able to have extra credit assignments. I am a little worried because this class seems like it is a big time commitment, but it motivates me to manage my time better and to plan everything out effectively.  What my eyes will see 90% of the semester. Growth Mindset

Image
I have never heard of Carol Dweck or the growth mindset before this class. I have tried my best to have a growth mindset, especially during my classes at OU, but sometimes I feel defeated and feel like it is impossible to learn the material in the class (especially in my hard science courses.) I wish all teachers/professors would have this mindset and teach about the power of "not yet." I think it would be incredibly beneficial for their students. The hardest classes I have taken at OU are Human Anatomy and Human Physiology. I constantly felt overwhelmed with everything I had to learn, and like Carol said some people do, I would always see who got a worse grade on an exam to make myself feel a little better. There were some students who got 100s on the exams, and I constantly felt like I was dumb and in-cable of learning. Luckily I changed my mindset halfway through the class, and I started to do a lot better. It was very hard but I managed to get through it. After learning a

Introduction to a Plant Lover

Hi everyone! My name is Natalia Crespo and I am a senior majoring in Psychology/Pre Occupational Therapy and minoring in Spanish. I am originally from El Paso, Texas but have lived in Oklahoma for over 8 years. I am majoring in psychology because I love learning about developmental disorders as well as people's mental processes. Occupational Therapists work a lot with people who have developmental disabilities and help them improve the skills needed for living every day life. I have been shadowing Occupational Therapists and I fell in love with what they do. I am so excited to go to OT school after I graduate, and I am currently in the process of applying to different schools. All of my family speak Spanish, especially my Dad's side of the family. I grew up speaking minimal Spanish, but I really wanted to study the language on a deeper level so I could communicate in Spanish more effectively, so that is why I am minoring in it.  Some of my favorite things include: Thrifting, ta

Story Book Favorites

Image
The first storybook I read was The Mermaid Diaries . This story was very interesting because it is from the perspective of mermaids writing to their diary. This format was very intriguing because you get to read their thoughts. The introduction talked about a girl named Ella finding a beautiful diary across the beach and taking it home to read. This does a great job in letting the reader know what the Storybook is about. The first story about the Mermaid, Melody, kind of reminded me of the movie Aqua-man, which I liked a lot. It had a little suspense and overall a bittersweet ending. I've always loved stories about mermaids finding a human mate, and having to battle between wanting to stay on land and wanting to live in the water. In Nursery Rhymes: Connecting the Dots, common nursery rhymes are turned into different short stories. In the introduction, the author does a great job of providing a short summary of what each story/nursery rhyme is about. I thought the stories were ext

My Favorite Place

Image
There are so many beautiful places in the world that I have not yet been able to travel to. The places I have gone so far have taken my breath away, like the mountains and trees in Colorado, the countryside in Oklahoma, the beaches in Mexico, the caverns in New Mexico, and the cities and amusement parks in California. But when I think of my favorite place, only one place comes to mind! This place is my Nana's house in El Paso, Texas. I grew up in El Paso and moved to Oklahoma when I was 14 years old. El Paso will always be my home, and I love visiting from time to time. The culture of El Paso is heavily influenced by Mexico, since it borders the city of Juarez, Mexico. The food, culture, people, and my family and friends are the reasons why I love the city.  I have made the best memories inside of my grandma's house. Every holiday was spent in that house, birthdays, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.! I look forward to visiting in the winter and walking through th
